The inline-4 engines will go on forever if they are maintained and the only thing to look out for in the inline-6 engines is the oil level. These engines are slanted (like pretty much all inline-6 BMW engines) and if the oil level is allowed to drop near the minimum, they may suffer from oil starvation, and most gearheads who have owned a twin-cam BMW also know they always use oil.
Q: Is the BMW 3 Series a good car? The BMW 3 Series is definitely a good car. It is luxurious and sporty, comes in various body styles, and offers arguably the best driving dynamics in its segment
Mazda. The Mazda RX-8 makes an even better case for a V-8 swap. Unlike the RX-7, it didn't get a turbocharged engine, and never really lived up to its predecessor. With some real muscle under the
Go for it, the e36 m3 is a great car! Just make sure you research it and look at all the trouble spots. (RSM's, oil leaks from the valve cover or oil filter housing) If all checks out, ask for past maintenance history. Something you'll want to address right away 8/10 times with one of these cars is the cooling system. That said, just research
Cayman S, M240i, Lotus Evora, F-Type, Supra. Thatโ€™s a stunner mate. Personally an E36 M3 is top of the โ€œwantโ€ tree for me. The holy grail would be the Imola GT. However, if I was looking to move on from an E36 M3, the only car in the running would be an E46 CSL.
Hey everyone, not sure how many people will remember this but about 6 months ago I asked this thread if it was a good idea to sell my 335is and buy and e36 and turbo it. Well I did it. Bought a 328i 5MT right before the school year started and would come home to work on the car about every 3 weeks or so.
Absolutely. There are plenty of more beautiful cars. BUTit's still somehow (to my eyes) the least bad looking car to ever come out. E36 M3 4-door with a 5-speed manual was the car I wanted for a long, long time growing up. I know we're suppossed to like the E46 better (and I do love it!) but E36 is just sooooo good and it remains my favorite.
Many of the driveline components are shared with the E36 325i, making for good availability. Don't be turned off by the long list of potential issues here with the E36 M3. It's a rewarding car
4. Availability. This may considered a knock towards the E36 M3 to some, but I consider it a virtue. There are millions of them for sale on Craigslist, eBay and any other car buying site.
