If it is determined that the EGR Cooler has leaked, then the engine intake manifold will also be replaced. Q5. Are BMW Group models, which are not Diesel, affected? Why not? No. They are not affected because they have a different engine design. Q6. Are BMW Group models with Diesel engines, but of different Model Year s, affected? Why not? No.
The repair tech at BMW said it happens enough that BMW issued a TSB (technical service bulletin) to all the dealerships so they know how to troubleshoot and assess damage. Based on that TSB, the tech recommended I replace the EGR valve, EGR cooler, throttle body, particulate filter, etc, etc. The entire list of parts totaled $6500. The car is hesitant at low speeds and doesnât respond to the accelerator. When the engine is warm then this problem goes away, as if the valve self lubricates when hot. I will first try to remove the EGR valve and clean it using a EGR/ carb spray. If that doesnât do the trick then Iâll replace it. Any tips appreciated.BMW Recalls nearly 45,000 Vehicles Due to a Potential Coolant Leak. Laguna Hills, CA â November 7, 2018 â BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain models over fire risk. These vehicles are equipped with an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) module with an integrated cooler. If the EGR cooler leaks internally, the coolant can mix
Luckily, still no problems in driving (or not that I can notice). But I had a similar code on my E46 (M47 engine) along with few others and replacing the EGR pressure converter (#11747796634) resolved the problem. I was thinking of doing the same here on my tractor (also as a precaution, since these old valves do die) but I got lost in the process. The auxiliary exhaust gas recirculator flap or spring is broken. This part is mounted right on the exhaust manifold and then connects to a pipe that connects to the EGR cooler. Itâs an easy replacement t job, remove the intake tubing on top of the engine and the plastic turbo pipe and then it is 4 bolts, 1 nut, 1 vacuum hose, 1 temp probe Our 2011 X3 with a bit over 30K miles, has experienced no issues other than a small hesitation issue cured by a software update. It's really down to luck or lack of it. I'd say the EGR valve is a one-off problem, not indicative of a systemic issue. BMW engines have a good reputation and there hasn't been a rash of EGR failures reported in the 87YV0p.
