The name of the 790 R game is lightness. Less weight means more maneuverability and the 790 R tips the scales at a claimed 460 lb wet, ready to ride. Lofting the front across the erosion mounds, switching lines to keep out of the erosion ruts and getting a little sideways through the turns, the bike absolutely begged for more. Up front the KTM1290 Super Adventure R is fitted with 48mm WP USD forks with extra stiff fork springs and a 21-inch spoked front wheel.
When buying new or used consider that KTMs have different warranties depending on model. KTMs come with a 24-month manufacturer’s warranty on street motorcycles, a 12-month warranty on all “R” models and a 6-month warranty on dual-sport EXC-F range. So an 850R has half the warranty than an 850 or 850 GP.
